Virginia Beach talent and CEO of Slay Entertainment 1pump has released his latest single, a woozy ballad simply called Love. Love is 1pump's first release, with a low humming synth and melodic rapping accentuating a song that exemplifies loving acts. "Love or hate it be the same thing, life go up and down just like a wave thing...but I got your back, I call that love." 1pump seeks to undermine some traditional perceptions of love "They try to measure my love with a damn ring," and get to the core of what infatuation and healthy love really looks like. I get SoundCloud vibes for this song, which is a compliment, in the same vein as one of the platform's most streamed songs ever in Fuck Love by Trippie and X. The expansion of melodies throughout hip-hop continues with this cut, and serves as a good example of the emotional range that can be conveyed when rappers incorporate more melody into their music. And hey, Virginia is for Lovers after all.
