Marrakesh is a fresh visual offering from the instrumental album Kingdom of the Gold Tooth Nubians. On Marrakesh, Eye Traveler takes traditional Middle Eastern and African melodies & rhythms and gives them that hip-hop touch.
Animator Misfit Sleep used an animation style that was in line with Eye's production method; layering, chopping, and rearranging images in a collage style much like a beat digger hovering over a pile of records with a sampler. The result is something that is both familiar and otherworldly.
Eye Traveler is a Los Angeles native and former co-owner of streetwear and boutique Regal Tenant. When he is not hunched over his beat machine, he is a seafarer of the cosmos and collector of ancient antiquities.
