Jim Jones & Stefflon Don Answer All Questions With "I AM" Produced by Hitmaka

The Capo is back with more heat to stoke the fire of the Dipset renaissance; this time with the Hitmaka-produced, Stefflon Don featured single, "I AM." This is an ode to Shyne and Barrington Levy's 2000 classic, "Bonnie-n-Shyne" and like that track, "I AM" can set the tone at the club or when you're picking your girl up in your Rolls Royce. And if the Rolls Royce is not for ladies then you can damn sure play it in your Mercedes. I'll stop-- but if you know you know.

Stefflon immediately asks and responds to her own questions in her sultry British vocals on the chorus, "Who gon' hold you when you cryin'? I am. Who gon' f**k you all the time? I am. All this p***y on ya mind? I am." The Jim Jones/Will C/Shula The Don directed music video showcases her beauty and their chemistry quite well and skillfully blurs the line between summertime Harlem and Miami.

Jim begins with a nod to Shyne flipping his line, "It’s getting closer, my player days are over, maybe not completely. All jokes aside girl, you know you complete me. You said you like convertibles, I bought that new GT, then I crashed it, we laughed and bought the newest GT…” He continues his slick talk throughout the verses with proclamations of making love on beautiful beaches and “putting more water on her neck than a Pisces”. Stefflon Don kicks a cool patois-infused third verse further proclaiming her loyalty. She's an artist to keep an eye on. Other than her questions on the hook what else was answered with "I AM"?

Is Jim Jones back in his prime? His rejuvenated flow and his ever-present "Summer with Miami" vibes and kingpin aura suggest he is. His upcoming EP with Hitmaka, aptly titled "Back In My Prime" is set to catch that lightning in a bottle. Hitmaka, formerly known by his rap name, Yung Berg once collaborated with Jim Jones for the remix to the wildly popular, "Sexy Lady" in the midst of Capo's original prime. Since then, Hitmaka has turned himself into a super-producer, racking up hits with Hip-Hop's A-list. The two are now reuniting for both of their respective second primes.

The strategy of advanced-age rappers sticking to one hot producer for full projects such as Nas's "King's Disease" series with Hitboy and Jones' partner in crime Cam'ron's 2022 "U Wasn't There" EP with DJ A-Trak has been a revelation for true Hip-Hop fans and if "I AM" is any indication "Back In My Prime" will be a victory lap for these two titans of the game.
