Kiran the Nomad Puts His "Woes On Wax" with New Album

What Do You See When You Look In the Mirror?

Kiran the Nomad is back with Woes On Wax, a new album following a year of artistic and personal growth. The success of his 2021 album Nights Before Party (Vol. 2) provided Kiran with a partnership with United Masters, opportunities to perform at SXSW, and new audiences through collaborations with Bairi, Dende, Lacey Jackson, Samad Savage, Armani Jordan, and many more promising independent artists.

Woes On Wax builds on this foundation by turning the focus inward. The album's catchphrase of "what do you see when you look in the mirror?" stays at the forefront of your mind through each track as Kiran reflects on his life and career to this point.

After a collaboration filled project like Night Before Party (Vol. 2), Kiran took a more measured approach with guests on this album. On lead single "Can't Breathe!," he utilizes Morgan Gold and Gio Genesis (two of the most talented up-and-coming singers out) as complimentary textures behind his own vocals. At times they even sound like samples from hit songs of their own.

On the follow-up single "Mile A Minute!," Nashville rapper Brian Brown provides the album's only guest rap verse- a meditative performance wrapped in a smooth cadence and comforting drawl. Elsewhere on the album, Johan Lenox, Uncle Tino, & Neptune each slot in perfectly to their respective songs and create something greater than the sum of its parts. The album is also tied together by a sonic collage of audio clips from friends and collaborators, mirroring the collages present in the album's creative direction by Tyler Blankinship.
