Our Producer Of The Week is 26-year-old producer Kajun Waters! Waters is originally from Los Angeles, but he has been residing in New York for over nine years now. Some of his production credits include Dusty Locane, Migos, Lil Wayne, Rah Swish, Jim Jones, and more! Aside from being a producer, Waters is also a music engineer as well as a recording artist. He's truly a jack of all trades in this industry!
Vy: How long have you been producing?
Waters: I’ve been producing consistently since around 2016. I started as an intern at a recording studio, and I gradually worked my way up to becoming the head engineer and producer.
Vy: Who/what inspires you to make music?
Waters: I’ve been drawn to music since I was a child. My mother used to play guitar and write songs around the house, so I have always been surrounded by music.
Vy: Briefly describe your work process.
Waters: As a producer, my process changes quite a lot. I’m not a fan of sending out beat packs. I prefer working one on one with an artist and crafting the song from start to finish. My skills as an engineer and songwriter help immensely with my production process.
Vy: Lastly, name one fun fact about you!
Waters: If I wasn't doing music, I'd probably be studying astronomy or astrophysics!
I always get excited seeing producers make music for artists that I know, and Kajun Waters did not disappoint! Being able to see Waters' duality as both a recording artist and a producer was very refreshing. The only way I can describe his music is that it's made for winners. These are tracks that'll get you hype.
I enjoyed interviewing him because it was so easy to talk to him! He is a very humble individual who is constantly on the grind, whether it be for producing, recording, or engineering.
