Virginia Musicians Launch Showcase for Indie Talent at Something in the Water Festival

Call for Bands, Musicians, Vendors Now Accepted — Festival to Run April 28-30 at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA — A new music, culture and lifestyle festival will celebrate Virginia’s independent musicians of all genres, supporting the Something in the Water festival in Virginia Beach, April 28-30.

The free, three-day event, dubbed Something Indie Water, is presented by experienced music promoters theMSQshop, a creative agency that guides independent artists and brands. It will be joined by Virginia Beach-based entertainment company Aspire To Inspire Music Group and fashion brand VA Natural Gas.

The event will be held at FFX Theatre, located at 206 16th St. in Virginia Beach — along the main entrance to Something in the Water, which Virginia Beach officials estimate could bring 60,000 attendees.

“We’re thrilled that Pharrell Williams continues to bring acclaimed national artists to Virginia,” festival director Will Keck says. “We want to show our support and use this opportunity to showcase independent artists from across the Commonwealth.”

In addition to music, the festival will feature a fashion marketplace, local vendors, a bar and refreshments from noon-5 p.m. on days one and two. Slight Since and VA Natural Gas will sponsor a brunch event Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., first come, first served.

“We live, work and play in Virginia’s thriving music scene and want to shine a light on our local artists,” Keck says. “Virginia’s talent will be on full display.”

Organizers are rolling out a call for entries from Virginia-based independent bands, DJs and musicians to be featured at the festival. Interested artists, vendors, sponsors and volunteers should connect online at theMSQshop.com/event.
